Wino fronted Saint Vitus to play the eastern
United States for the first time since 1987!!!

Saint Vitus were thee premiere American doom metal act of the ’80s.
They were one of the first to fuse the behemoth riffage and bleak atmosphere of doomier side of Black Sabbath with the desperate aggression of punk rock ala Black Flag and the 80’s flourishing hardcore scene.

Saint Vitus re-united in 2003 for two select shows in Germany & Chicago and then early this year to headline the Roadburn Festival in Holland which expanded to a sold out warm up show in New Orleans, three select club shows in Germany and then a one off show returned to Europe perform for the very first time in France, headlining mainstage 2 at the first night of Hellfest.

Saint Vitus last toured the eastern side of the United States in 1993 and will return for three select shows in October 2009 with frontman Scott “WINO” Weinrich (The Obssessed, WINO, Spirit Caravan, Place of Skulls, Hidden Hand, and Probot) who hasn’t toured with them in these cities since 1987!!!

Saint Vitus guitarist Dave Chandler had this to say about playing the October shows; “I’m really looking forward to playing the east coast again! It should be a blast! Back in the day, the farther east we went, the better the shows were, so it’s gonna be cool to see what happens now!”

Thorrs’ Hammer was the first time that Stephen O’Malley (sunn, KTL, Khanate, Burning Witch) and Greg Anderson (sunn, Ascend, Goatsnake) ever played music together. We formed in 1995 played 2 shows, recorded one demo and then disbanded. 15 years later (!!!) we reconvene with original vocalist: Runhild Gammelsaeter, and drummer Jamie “Boggy” Sykes! Behold the debut album from Eagle Twin! Although Eagle Twin is a very new entity its helmsman: Gentry Densley is no stranger to innovative, heavy music. Densley was the musical visionary and leader of the legendary Jazz, Prog, Rock, Metal, Hardcore group Iceburn from 1991-2001. In order to disseminate his majestic and mountainous riffs in the present day he enlisted massively behemoth skinsman Tyler Smith. The drums are not only a driving force that efficiently steam rolls over you they conjure a repetitious mantra that is eerily infectious. The riffs and music definitely have familiar reference points (Caspar Brotzmann Massaker,Earth, sunn 0))), Melvins etc..) but are crafted in a way that stands miles beyond the others. “The Unkindness of Crows” was recorded to tape in Seattle by Randall Dunn (earth, sunn 0))), Kinski, Ascend). Beautifully packaged in a digi-pac with original artwork from Gentry, Sri Whipple and others. Designed by Stephen O’Malley. Catch them on tour with sunn 0)))!

That is right, sound the alarms: North Carolina’s sludge pillagers WEEDEATER have been confirmed as support for a full-on North American DOWN tour! The lineup changes throughout the routing; The Canadian dates feature secondary support from VOIVOD, while the bulk of the American dates feature THE MELVINS. Other opening support for the tour will be DANAVA for the first half and EVIL ARMY for the latter half of the dates.

WEEDEATER will play several shows in North Carolina and Tennessee on the way to the opening and after the closing of the tour, and will headline sporadically in chunks throughout the main tour. And of course they will do what they do best: sonically reduce every venue they enter to a resin-coated heap of rubble.

WEEDEATER’s latest album God Luck And Good Speed was released in 2007 on Southern Lord Recordings; a deluxe double LP version just released in 2009. They have ruled the stage with their filth-mongering approach within the doom, stoner and metal circuits for over a decade now, and it appears things are about to get a whole lot filthier for us all.
