OM to release next album with Southern Lord!!!!

It is with extreme honor that Southern Lord is officially able to announce the signing of San Francisco’s OM. OM was formed in 2003 by Al Cisneros (bass/vocals) and Chris Hakius (drums), both founding members of legendary doom pioneers Sleep. The band has released two previous albums with Holy Mountain Records: “Variations on a Theme”(2004), and “Conference of the Birds” (2006). OM will fit perfectly among other bands on the Southern Lord roster (Sunn 0))), Earth, Boris) who are continually pushing boundaries, and forging ahead in new directions. OM are helping reinvent AND reinforce modern heavy music.
Their first album for Southern Lord will be recorded this summer at Electrical Audio studios with Steve Albini at the controls. Album title and release date forthcoming. Please stay tuned for more info!

After a long, exhaustive excavation of a historic sacrificial burial mound the corpses of three prime-evil caveman were unearthed. Upon their resurrection their identities were revealed as: Oren Ambarchi, Greg Anderson and Attila Csihar. Archaeologists have determined the creatures stalked the land before performing archaic rituals under the names of : GRAVE TEMPLE TRIO (Israel only) SUNN0))), MAYHEM, TORMENTOR, and possibly the Menstruation Sisters. This current evocation of this unholy alliance has been rumored to be: subsonic, destructive and may induce vomiting, narcolepsy or rigor mortis. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

The first release from Southern Lord in 2007 comes from Spanish horde: ORTHODOX In this debut recording, their musical influences (Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Melvins, Earth,Sleep) get mixed with their peculiar perception of the south-spanish religious folklore. The result is a lethargic music with obsesive repetitions, minimalism, feedback, distortion and endless drones creating a primitive trance inducing atmosphere. “Gran Poder” was originally released in Europe only by Spanish label: Alone Records. This North American Southern Lord issue features one exclusive bonus track (a cover of Venoms’ classic: Genocide) not available on the original issue. ORTHODOX is a band you will be hearing alot more from via Southern Lord in the near future!
