Hidden Hand announce new album, drummer and upcoming tour!
Southern Lord recording artists The Hidden Hand have put the finishing touches on their next epic masterpiece entitled: “The Resurrection Of Whiskey Foote” . “Resurrection”…is the 3rd Hidden Hand full-length (2nd from Southern Lord) and features the lineup that recorded the now sold out/out of print EP from last years: “Devoid Of Color” EP of:
Scott WINO Weinrich-Guitars, Vocals
Bruce Falkinburg-Bass
Evan Tanner-Drums
ROWF is not necessarily a concept album but it is heavily themed with historical story-based lyricism. Musically there is a subtle southern or classic rock vibe (ala killer slide playing from Wino and even some Harp by Michael Anthony Miller) that creeps into the foundation of their brand of dark, heavy, progressive rock.
The album will be released on CD and Lp worldwide in February 2007.
Shortly after the album was finished Evan Tanner left the band and was replaced by Matt Moulis (Medic, Bison). With this new lineup, the Hidden Hand will hit the road with Kylesa in the USA late Jan. thru Feb. A European tour is being planned for April.

**Urgehal - Goat Craft Torment (CD) review from Vampire Webzine:
No doubt many of you black metal enthusiasts out there have heard the name Urgehal screamed out in a plethora of underground fanzines over the last decade or so. Formed in 1992 the band have spawned 2 demos and 4 albums of underground acclaim gaining themselves a healthy fan base in the process. Staying true to the cause playing simplistic and chaotic Norwegian black metal, new album ‘Goatcraft Torment’ proves to be a worthy addition to their back catalogue. Reeking of Darkthrone and with enough clichés ( how can you not be impressed with song titles like ‘Satanic Black Metal In Hell’) to please old school fans the world over, Urgehal have created something here that, put simply, fucking kills. A beefy production backs up the unbelievably tight playing keeping things nice and raw where everything, including the bass, can be heard in all their blasphemous glory. The razor-sharp riffs flow thick and fast over the albums 10 tracks, each memorable in their own right making this, after Gorgoroth’s latest of course, a fine example of Norwegian black metal in its purest, most aggressive form. Although you will have heard all this a million times before, it’s the professional and passionate execution of tracks such as the punked-up ‘Antireligiøs’ and ‘Gathered Under The Horns’ that make this stand on its own two cloven hooves. Great material, great playing, great packaging just basically a great fucking album, this is, as vocalist Trondr Nefast proudly states at the start of the opening title-track, ’satanic black metal’ at its fiercest and its best.

**Clown Alley-”Circus Of Chaos”- review from Death From Above:
I really dug this album because I was immediately catapulted to the CRO MAGS and BROKEN BONES ala their Bonecrusher days. As Circus of Chaos was originally released in 1987, this is the way hardcore in the eighties primarily sounded, a complete contrast to the breakdown-fanatical stuff going on today. No disrespect intended, because I’m friends with a number of the latter bands and I support a fair chunk of what they stand for, but when I want to hear hardcore proper, CLOWN ALLEY is what I want to hear. Just the way Lori Black nails her bass like Harley Flanagan makes me smile, and even as songs like “Unplugged” take on an early DRI approach, CLOWN ALLEY knows what the shit is really about. Circus of Chaos is the real, people…

KTL CD (featuring Stephen O’Malley) available now
Available now in the Southern Lord store!!!(review from Aquarius)
SUNNO)))-worshippers alert! 1/2 of that drone metal behemoth, our pal Stephen O’Malley (who has also piloted or participated in such units as Khanate, Burning Witch, Ginnungagap, Teeth Of The Lions Rule The Divine, Thorr’s Hammer, Fungal Hex, Lotus Eaters, etc.) has travelled to Europe to collaborate with Austrian experimental digital noise artist Peter “Pita” Rehberg! They’re calling themselves KTL because the music they made is to be the soundtrack to some sort of stage piece called Kindertotenlieder by performance artist Gisele Vienne and novelist Dennis Cooper (”Closer”) due to debut at a festival in France next year. Judging from the music, not to mention the people involved, we imagine it’s gonna be beautiful, but also somehow disturbing and dark… This cd certainly is.
It starts off with the 24 minute drone “Estranged”, blissful and spooky piece that builds towards its end to noisier heights, threatening the storms to come on this album. And yes, the four parts of “Forest Floor” that take up the main, middle part of the disc are a harrowing journey indeed, into a buzzing, claustrophobic realm of dangerous digital sonics and heavy drone, like SUNNO)))’s lugubrious riffage mixed with the glitchy crunch of Pita — which is what it is, of course! Not for the faint of heart. Part four, in particular, sounds like a doomed prop engine airplane rumbling over a dark forest landscape from some black metal album cover, at night…
Finally O’Malley and Rehberg wind things up with the quieter (but still creepy) 13 minutes of “Snow”, a softly pulsing, detailed improv exploration of lowercase sounds… Very nice!
Let’s hope KTL isn’t just a one-off collaboration, we’d like to hear more from these two! Their mastery of minimalist ambient music, electronic glitchology and Earthy guitar sludge make a fine sipping brew.
