Corrosion of Conformity - “Your Tomorrow Pt. 1 & 2″ 7″

In 1986 I saw a show that absolutely changed my life. The band that tore my head off was Corrosion of Conformity. I was a huge fan of their debut album “Eye For an Eye” but no one including myself was prepared for what the next move of COC would be. The band got rid of their frontman/singer and became a 3 piece with bassist Mike Dean handling vocal duties. They released the ground breaking crossover masterpiece: “Animosity” and hit the road! Their blend of punk rock aesthetic combined with aggressive metallic power blew every one away and layed the groundwork for countless bands to come.

The legacy of C.O.C. has more depth and longevity than more bands can even come close to claiming. While they have changed lineups and styles many times over the last 25+ years they have consistently remained vital, relevant and most of all HEAVY! Over the course of 2010 the original 3 piece “Animosity-era” lineup (Mike Dean, Woodroe Weatherman, Reed Mullin) decided to reconvene and tear shit up in the vein of the classic stylings of before!

It goes without saying that Southern Lord is beyond excitement to be releasing the very first recordings of this “Animosity” lineup of C.O.C. This 7″ features an exclusive brand new song: “Your Tomorrow” (Parts 1&2) . It was recorded in Woodys barn in July of 2010 by the band. 180 gram RED vinyl 7″ (aka dinner plate!). Righteous Fool is a new band featuring Corrosion of Conformity veterans Mike Dean (Bass/Vocals) and Reed Mullin (Drums/Vocals), with Jason Browning (HR band) on guitar. Southern Lord Signs NAILS; Reissue And New Album In Motion

Continuing to supply the masses with aural brutality of all types, Southern Lord Recordings are proud to add Southern Californian trio NAILS to their ever-expanding roster.

NAILS’ music is beyond brutality; filthy, vicious and raw. Imagine a cross between the good Amrep bands of the nineties (Helmet, Hammerhead, Today is The Day, Unsane) and Cro-Mags Age of Quarrel riffage played at breakneck speeds. Their epic battle cry Unsilent Death was recorded during the cold winter of 2009 at Kurt Ballou’s (Converge, Trap Them, Disfear, Black Breath) Godcity Recording Studio. The CD version of Unsilent Death was originally released in very limited quantities by Six Feet Under records. The LP version was self released by the band on the band’s own Streetcleaner label and quickly sold through the 1000 piece pressing. Southern Lord is extremely honored to pick up the torch of this album and let it burn brightly through many more countless battles!

As previously announced, the band will take part in the Southern Lord-sponsored The Power Of The Riff Festival in Los Angeles on August 8th alongside Goatsnake, Black Breath, From Ashes Rise, Repulsion, the Animosity-era lineup of Corrosion of Conformity and countless more. In early September they embark on a cross-country rampage that will last over a month, including five dates opening for Venomous Concept.

This past weekend, Ian Astbury made an unannounced appearance with Boris at the band’s performance at Sydney, Australia’s Vivid LIVE appearance, blowing fans away with this unexpected set which showcased some of the material from the BXI EP as well as a cover of the classic “The End”, by The Doors.

As previously announced, Boris will rock North America once again this summer alongside Russian Circles for half of the tour and Red Sparrowes for the latter. Southern Lord is proud to present the CD version of “The Prophet Feeds”, the debut album from Midwest bashers Masakari. This band is amazing and this first full-legnth of theirs is relentless, unhinged, chaotic crust! Somewhat in the vein of His Hero is Gone, Tragedy and From Ashes Rise, but with a very distinct and brutal edge, Masakari fuses their apocalyptic crust with the raging power of Discharge/Disfear D-beat and the hard-edged Japanese punk stylings of G.I.S.M., with a smattering of blast-beat driven grindcore to drive it all home. The “Prophet Feeds” was engineered by Bill Korecky (Incantation, Keelhaul, Integrity) and recorded at Mars Studio in Cleveland.

This album will officially hit the streets on June 8th but keep an eye out on the Southern Lord site for a chance to purchase it before its available elsewhere!

When TWILIGHT’s self-titled debut was delivered in 2005 it was an explosive new time for American black metal, where several stateside acts were captivating the world’s attention. It was during these times that a crew of henchmen hailing from said acts covertly assembled to formulate a collaborative album, under the banner of TWILIGHT. Then comprised of members of Nachtmystium, Leviathan, Kreig, Xasthur and Drautran, the album’s gritty and varied content was an instant cult classic for the genre.

Due to personal differences within the unit, TWILIGHT officially disbanded a year later, with no plans of a new record on the horizon. Yet in early 2009 several members resurrected a modified lineup. These alterations would expand this “follow-up release” into a full-blown masterpiece.

TWILIGHT’s massive lineup on the upcoming Monument To Time End includes three founding members - Blake Judd (Nachtmystium), Wrest (Leviathan, Lurker of Chalice), and N. Imperial (Kreig), - and new recruits Stavros Giannopolous (The Atlas Moth), Sanford Parker (Minsk, Buried At Sea) and Aaron Turner (Isis, Old Man Gloom), as well as vocal contributions by Robert Lowe (Lichens, OM).on three tracks. This wholly forward-thinking alignment of artists presents this TWILIGHT release as an entirely new entity.

Undoubtedly, the harsh and cantankerous black metal underbelly of the foundation of the unit is still intact throughout Monument To Time End, but it’s the visual hell the listener feels personified through the more dissonant, demented and ethereal realms of utter madness explored, where seemingly psychotropic nightmares come to life with an ethereal, beautiful vengeance.
