Saint Vitus USA reunion shows!!!!!!

Wino fronted Saint Vitus to play the eastern
United States for the first time since 1987!!!

Saint Vitus were thee premiere American doom metal act of the ’80s.
They were one of the first to fuse the behemoth riffage and bleak atmosphere of doomier side of Black Sabbath with the desperate aggression of punk rock ala Black Flag and the 80’s flourishing hardcore scene.

Saint Vitus re-united in 2003 for two select shows in Germany & Chicago and then early this year to headline the Roadburn Festival in Holland which expanded to a sold out warm up show in New Orleans, three select club shows in Germany and then a one off show returned to Europe perform for the very first time in France, headlining mainstage 2 at the first night of Hellfest.

Saint Vitus last toured the eastern side of the United States in 1993 and will return for three select shows in October 2009 with frontman Scott “WINO” Weinrich (The Obssessed, WINO, Spirit Caravan, Place of Skulls, Hidden Hand, and Probot) who hasn’t toured with them in these cities since 1987!!!

Saint Vitus guitarist Dave Chandler had this to say about playing the October shows; “I’m really looking forward to playing the east coast again! It should be a blast! Back in the day, the farther east we went, the better the shows were, so it’s gonna be cool to see what happens now!”

The only upcoming 2009 tour dates are as follows

Friday, October 16th
@ Club Europa in Brooklyn, New York

Saturday, October 17th
@ Palladium in Worcester, MA
with The Misfits & Type O Negative

Sunday, October 18th
@ Sonar in Baltimore, MD

Jon Blank R.I.P

The unbelievably sad news about the passing of Jon Blank came to us yesterday. He passed away on Sat. May 4th just one day after coming home from Europe after some incredibly successful shows with the Wino band. I never had the opportunity to actually meet Jon but Wino spoke incredibly highly of him and everyone I know that knew him said he was as great a person as he was a musician. His playing on the Wino solo album is phenomenal and I felt excited to be working in the presence of true rising star. More info about this tragedy can be found here.

Our deepest sympathies go out to his friends and family.

WINO! DEBUT SOLO ALBUM NOW AVAILABLE!

WINOS’ FIRST SOLO ALBUM IS UPON US!

Over the last 25 years Scott “Wino” Weinrich has defined heavy music and is truly the Godfather of the movement. Starting with the Obsessed, and Saint Vitus and onto his mind-blowing power trios: Spirit Caravan and The Hidden Hand his virtuosity on six strings is matched perfectly with his soulful vocals and powerful lyrics. But as us Wino freaks know he has always graciously shared the spotlight with his band members. Even though it was Wino we came to see and hear he seemed to understand the power of the chemistry of the bands he was leading. His selflessness seems unnecessary considering his talents but it was his decision to equally share the glory.

After the demise of his last group: The Hidden Hand, Wino did not rest. With new found energy he completed the writing of many new songs and decided to enlist the help of some friends to help realize his new musical vision. The idea was not to start a new power trio with a new name as before. This time it was about finding players who would help realize his songs the way he wanted them. This more “Wino”- focused direction was fleshed out with the help of 2 amazing musicians: Jean Paul Gaster (Clutch, The Bakerton Group) on drums and Jon Blank (Rezin) on bass. “Punctuated Equilibrium” was recorded by J. Robbins who has worked extensively with both the Hidden Hand and Clutch in the past.

The album comes with amazing original artwork by David D’ Andrea and contains extensive liner notes from Wino himself that explicitly describe the origin and concept of each track. Here is an excerpt that I feel perfectly explains this album:

“This is the culmination of a very old dream, one that has come true in many different ways. One of the main things I have learned is how I understand “success”. To me, its not all riches and glory so much as the impact on others lives. My main philosophy that guides me is that I was given a gift, a Musical gift which I use to bring happiness to others. It is also important not to overlook your own needs, but putting yourself in the other person’s shoes is to me most important! Punctuated Equilibrium is how my personality has been described, as told in the lyrics.”

Hidden Hand announce new album, drummer and upcoming tour!

Southern Lord recording artists The Hidden Hand have put the finishing touches on their next epic masterpiece entitled: “The Resurrection Of Whiskey Foote” . “Resurrection”…is the 3rd Hidden Hand full-length (2nd from Southern Lord) and features the lineup that recorded the now sold out/out of print EP from last years: “Devoid Of Color” EP of:
Scott WINO Weinrich-Guitars, Vocals
Bruce Falkinburg-Bass
Evan Tanner-Drums
ROWF is not necessarily a concept album but it is heavily themed with historical story-based lyricism. Musically there is a subtle southern or classic rock vibe (ala killer slide playing from Wino and even some Harp by Michael Anthony Miller) that creeps into the foundation of their brand of dark, heavy, progressive rock.
The album will be released on CD and Lp worldwide in February 2007.

Shortly after the album was finished Evan Tanner left the band and was replaced by Matt Moulis (Medic, Bison). With this new lineup, the Hidden Hand will hit the road with Kylesa in the USA late Jan. thru Feb. A European tour is being planned for April.
