EARTH & WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM West Coast Tour

EARTH have joined up with label mates WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM for a week-and-a-half long West Coast tour for this April. The string of dates will also include opening support from instrumentalist Cello performer Lori Goldston, who will also be part of EARTH’s live lineup for the tour.

EARTH have been finalizing material for their next full-length to be released on Southern Lord Recordings by early 2011, and will be showcasing some of these new songs on the tour. The EARTH lineup on these dates shall consist of:

Adrienne Davies - Drums
Karl Blau - Bass
Lori Goldston - Cello

WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM have just completed their first Australian tour, alongside French doom unit Monarch!, and will appear alongside SHRINEBUILDER at a special one-off East Coast appearance in New York City this tonight.

On September 22nd in Brooklyn, NY Southern Lord will be unleashing a very special showcase of some of its best artists. Never before will a Masonic Lodge experience such a sonic beating!! The Brooklyn Masonic lodge is a Landmark building from 1909, it is one hundred years old and is presently used by an all-African-American Masonic chapter!

Southern Lord bands: Eagle Twin, Earth, Pelican and sunn 0))) will all play sets on this momentous evening.

In the interest of documenting exceptional and vibrant live performances by our artists, we are proud to present a exclusive, vinyl only live album from Earth. Comprised of two tracks from a live radio broadcast on KFJC (New Years Eve 2007) and two track from a live performance in Vienna on there 2008 European tour. Of particular note is that Trey Spruance (Secret Chief 3, Faxed Head) plays Baritone Guitar and sitar on the KFJC recordings. The sound quality is incredible and crystal clear! Randall Dunn (sunn 0))) , Boris, Kinski) was the live sound engineer and the recordings were ultimately mastered by Mell Dettmer. The 180 gram black vinyl comes housed in a beautiful cloth-like textured heavy-weight cardboard sleeve with metallic silver foil printing! This release is limited to 3,000 copies and as with all Southern Lord vinyl it is highly collectible and they will go fast! each

The excruciating wait is over! It is with honor that we are able to offer the deluxe double vinyl version of the latest recording from Earth: “the Bees Made Honey In The Lions Skull”. Featuring the exclusive vinyl only bonus track: “Junkyard Priest” (featuring Milky Burgess on slide!).

The audio was specifically mastered for vinyl and the LP lacquers were cut by Bob Weston (Shellac). Complimenting the audio is the supreme packaging presentation.

These 180 gram gold vinyl lps come housed in a over the top bible-esque triple gatefold jacket. Outside is faux leatherette with gold embossing. Think CSNY “Deja Vu” lp meets the Holy Bible!. Inside is the amazing artwork and photography from Arik Roper.

We feel that this may be the best packaging we have ever done, definitely a site to behold! Of course the pictures dont quite do it justice and you need to see and feel this in person to get the proper effect.

Pressing is 4980 total. (3k black, 1k clear (for European Distribution only), 980 Gold (mailorder ). Once these are gone we will not repress this version again. We think this was well worth the wait, we hope you do to!

The unveiling of the new Earth studio album is upon us! The band returns once again to it’s continuing evolution. Where “Hex” reveled in dark satanic twang and austere american beauty, “The Bees Made Honey In The Lion’s Skull” finds Dylan Carlson and the band growing into a harder, more rock, american Gospel and impovisitory direction framed by truly psychedelic production and blazing guitar sounds.

Earth is also very honored to be joined on this record for three songs by legendary and virtuoso guitarist Bill Frisell. Mr. Frisell adds a brilliant texture and counterpoint to the scintillating and inspired riffs of Dylan carlson and the band. Adrienne Davies joins again on drums lending a classic and steady feel to the proceedings. Steve Moore also returns adding heavy hammond organ and his intense jazz inspired piano playing. Live Bassist Don McGreevy also makes his full length Earth debut on this record. The cd comes nicely packaged in a slip-case/o-card and features artwork by Arik Roper.

“Bees”… will be available in stores on Feb. 26th, however here is a chance to hear it prior to that date by ordering directly from Southern Lord. We also have an exclusively authorized t-shirt and sweatshirt with the killer artwork from the album!
