BXI’s First Official Performance To Commence Alongside ALTAR Next Week!
As BORIS wrap up their latest month-long North American tour with two California shows this week, they’re also prepare to join forces with several allies for their upcoming live work with ALTAR and BXI performances scheduled in New York.
First up, ALTAR (comprised of SUNN 0))) and BORIS as one group) will perform at the All Tomorrow’s Parties Festival in Monticello, New York alongside Sleep, Iggy & The Stooges, Sonic Youth and countless more in a massive outdoor space. Two days later ALTAR will make another appearance, this time alongside the first official performance of BXI (BORIS and Ian Astbury of The Cult), which will all go down at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple, which has been inarguably dubbed “the loudest room in NYC,” and presented by All Tomorrow’s Parties and The Blackened Music Series.
The debut release from BXI is a 4-song self-titled EP, which was released by Southern Lord Recordings on August 17th. The EP is quickly surprising fans of both The Cult and BORIS, as well as journalists across the globe, and has listeners taking this new collaboration quite seriously, making this official first concert together an exceptionally special performance for the unit.

BXI-(BORIS W/ IAN ASTBURY) CD+ 180 GRAM LP AVAILABLE NOW!
Southern Lord proudly announces an incredible collaboration between Boris and Ian Astbury. This finely-crafted four-song release, simply entitled BXI, was tracked and mixed in Tokyo in late April. Astburys’ iconic rock vocals are a perfect match for Boris’s straightforward, laid-back, but still raw and imaginative songwriting constructed for the EP; another intriguing display within the band’s ever-morphing, extensive résumé of releases, tours and collaborations.
BXI showcases the already unclassifiable rock of Boris in an entirely new light, and shows a new side one of rock and roll’s most notorious singers. The release features three new original tracks, as well as a cover of The Cult’s song “Rain”, ethereally vocalized by Boris guitarist Wata. Art and design for the release was commissioned to Stephen O’Malley (Ideologic.org, SUNNO))), etc.). The result is stunning! each

ALTAR is a collaboration between Sunn 0))) and Boris that is a result of both bands conceptualizing, writing and recording together as one entity. There are elements of each group’s trademark sound but true to each group’s progressive and experimental aspects, ALTAR moves into a completely new dimension. This is the first NYC performance of ALTAR.
BXI is the collaboration between Boris and Ian Astbury. Southern Lord will release the debut recordings by this group in August 2010. This finely-crafted four-song release, simply entitled BXI, was tracked and mixed in Tokyo in late April. Astburys’ iconic vocals are a perfect match for Boris’s raw and emotive songwriting style. This is the first U.S. performance of BXI.
Listen closely to Jesse Sykes’s stark descriptions of isolation, sometimes-swaggering toughness, fragile human emotion, and the possibilities of love, and you’ll hear something that perfectly, tenderly, and surprisingly captures the feel of the 21st century so far.

Boris-Announce Summer 2010 Tour
BORIS To Spend Their Summer Vacation Deafening North Americans
Japan’s most potent psychedelic rock trio BORIS have just locked down their next North American escapade.
After many previous tours to the continent, superheavy post-doom-rock unit BORIS will return to North America this summer in a major way, storming the continent on a tour that will last from the end of July through the month of August. Kicking off in California, the opening leg of the tour will see the band accompanied by Russian Circles as main support for the first few weeks, and by Red Sparrowes for the second leg, which also winds down in the Golden State at the end of August.
But BORIS will not let a tour die off quietly…. This full tour shall take place in advance of the previously announced appearance by SUNN O))) and BORIS amalgamating to perform as ALTAR — as heard on their 2006 Altar full-length — at the third annual All Tomorrow’s Parties Festival in beautiful upstate New York, performing alongside Sleep [performing Holy Mountain], Iggy & The Stooges [performing Raw Power], Sonic Youth, Mudhoney, Raekwon, Explosions In The Sky and tons more this Labor Day weekend.
Stay tuned for a forthcoming major announcement regarding several new Boris releases!
